Film

1.7.1 Film Night

Since starting the uni, I've been gradually setting up a film club at our flat to make our flat a sort of social hub to get to know new people and just have a fun time doing it. we've watched some great films and had better laughs. Its been a good way to meet people from other courses too, giving us the chance to talk about our courses and help each other out. So far we've seen a close to 20 films now and plan to keep going

Branding

Evaluation

This self branding project has proven to be a real good project although i have found it hard personal branding myself but i guess most people are in the same boat. after looking at what i wanted to produce for the project, i concluded that at the moment i wanted to work on myself, as in i wanted to create a digital portfolio to put my work so that people could see it if they asked to see it // send it off to people. I also wanted to take a page out of Aaron Draplins book with his custom sketchbooks (aka field notes) to allow myself to be more organized and have more pride in showing people my work when its all in one place. I feel like i Have Achieved these to a standard i am happy with and confident to show it to people to show concepts and pitch ideas.

This whole project has made me feel more comfortable with my work and having a bit more confidence in what i do. Its definitely helped within my group project that we have going on at the moment. Its as people always say, you feel confident in smart clothes but in this case its just a new set of sketchbooks.

Branding

Books

for the books, i wanted to make them for myself mainly as it alows me to create sketchbooks for individual projects, at the same time being able to give these to people if they wanted. The books design that I wanted was to have it as a simple layout so it would be easy to create batches of them. The design would incorporate a printed cover that would be stapled to keep the book together, the white strip at the front was placed there to allow you to name the sketchbooks if you have a lot (which I probably will do) to keep track of whats in what book. Finally, inside the cover is a section to write down the brief to what ever project your working on in that book to allow you to keep looking back to it without leaving your sketchbook. I aim to have these a small size, preferably a little smaller than A5 as its big enough for me to write in and at the same time small enough to put in my pocket.

Final Printed books had some difficulty cutting it to the right sizes but ultimately i am pleased with the out comes.

exhibition

Fine Art Exhibition

Level 4 fine art held an art exhibition to show there responses to there last module with in their different strands, Drawing, Sculpture and Painting. Our flat mate, Shannon, had her work displayed so we as a flat went together to support her and see what she had produced and to see the many different pieces from fine art. I think its safe to say that most of the exhibition had had some amazing pieces and the turn out really showed how all the different courses from the college had come to support there fellow students.

Evaluation OUGD403

Studio Brief 02 evaluation

I have thoroughly enjoyed this project. I haven’t really made any proper typefaces before this and it was a really good stepping stone for type design in general. The outcomes for this project seem to have worked really well and I’m very happy with the way they turned out. I got to learn a new skill that I’ve always wanted to use which has now opened doors for me both inside of university with briefs and outside too. While talking to a tutor about my work at the end of the group critique, he said he was said he was very impressed with how the outcomes looked and suggested trying these with a projector to get a cool look on other ways that they could work rather than TV. Thanks to this project it’s given me more respect to type design and would like to work with it again in the future.
